At our bookshop, we hold close, a line by Philip Pullman, “After nourishment, shelter and, Companionship, stories are the thing we need most in the world”.
It is sort of like an unwritten law; yes because that is how life of every human being goes. Some people do crumble or manipulate the order, though a successful life or a peaceful appearance of any human follows the order.
What does it say?
In the breakdown it says, when there is nothing left to achieve, stories remain.
Stories in visual form.
Stories in oral form.
Stories in written form.
Well, as a bookshop we hate stories of every kind if they are not of written form.
Why?
First of all, we are a bookshop. It’s our right to advocate books and stories of written format.
And the other reasons are as follows that makes us feel advocate books:
1. Problem with stories in visual form: Stories in visual form, mostly movies and videos, have a defined cast, by which I mean they have a face, making the form of any story rigid.
2. Pure hate for oral stories as well: Even stories of oral form are rigid, not that much but they are. We mean, someone is voicing the story for you applying his metaphors.
A brief comment before mentioning the third point
In these two forms of stories the common point is, ‘Both– oral and visual forms of stories including second, even third person, to pass a story. Interruption from outer world and less time with ourselves is what we hate’. And both of the forms can be manipulated by the generator of the story.
3. We Love stories of written form: Stories of written format do something which can be perceived as the best gift for human kind.
‘!Why is it the best gift?!’
We think it’s the best present for the humans, as whenever we are reading the stories we get time for ourselves. Not only that but books provide us the authority to imagine anyone, any face, any scene, and any noun as per our imagination and creativity. We can control it as per our situation.
The bonus and plus thing in this form of story is, ‘No matter how badly the author has tried to manipulate the story but a reader can always feels what they want to. A reader can control it’.
In simple words, we love books for only one thing, ‘Books allows its readers to create their own world. Imagine faces. Use creativity. Have time with yourself’.
We don’t have any solid reason to support books but we are a bookshop thus it is our right. And we feel, story of visual and oral form can be good supporting elements if you want to write something. Nothing more than that.
Thanks
